We hold a range of one-day seminars and half day updates for people dealing with accounting, constitutional and tax issues in the charity sector.

On a Kubernesis seminar you will usually be amongst a mixture of:

  • people working directly in the charity sector (charity managers, finance officers, fundraising/development officers)
  • professional advisers (accountants, independent examiners, legal advisers)
  • charity trustees
  • professionals from other sectors who need a rapid update on current issues for charities.

Timings: Full day seminars take place from 10.30-4.30 (coffee from 10.15).  Half day (morning) seminars are 09.45-12.45 (coffee from 09.30).

Venue: Our seminars are are held at the York Science Park adjacent to York University.  This is a modern fully-accessible building with on-site parking usually available and a direct tram-bus service available every 12 minutes from York station.

Each event includes refreshments and extensive handouts and full day seminars include a quality buffet lunch.

Each seminar will be led by Dr Gareth Morgan.  Numbers are limited to a maximum of 14 to allow plenty of scope for questions and discussion.

Special requirements: If you have a disability or special dietary needs which may affect your participation in the seminar, please let us know at the time of booking and we will do all we can to accommodate your needs.  (We always allow for vegetarians – no special request needed.)

Cancellations: If you need to alter a booking, please give as much notice as possible – if you let us have at least 21 days notice, the fee will be refunded less £25 admin charge – or for the same admin fee we can postpone your booking to a future date.  No refunds or transfer of date are possible less than 21 days beforehand, although we can send the handouts to you if you are unable to attend.  Occasionally we may have to cancel a seminar (e.g. due to insufficient numbers) but this will not be done less than two weeks ahead except in an emergency (such as illness of presenter).  If we have to cancel, a full refund of the fee will be offered, but we cannot be responsible for any other costs.

External Training

We also undertake a good deal of our training work in presentation of external seminars on issues of charity law and financial management.  Dr Gareth Morgan is frequently invited to present specialist one day courses for voluntary sector umbrella bodies – or to speak at events organised by other professional firms for their charity clients.
